#Anderson Epic Adventure 2017: A Day in Charleston
Before we get into the events of today, lets talk a little about the events of last night. A little before bed we could see lightening off in the distance. Once we saw it, we did what anyone one who grew up in the midwest would do...we found a bench to sit on and watch it. It was quite beautiful to watch. After a bit it was time to go to bed. Shortly after climbing into the tent the winds picked up. So much so that we had to push against a couple of the poles on the back side of the tent to help reinforce the back wall. The rains came after that pretty hard. Glad to report that the tent held up and we all stayed dry during the night.
After getting ready this morning it was off to Charleston to do some exploring. The city did not disappoint. Many of the things to see in the city is in walking distance if you don't mind getting in a few steps. We took in a market similar to the market in Seattle minus the flying fish. Walking and driving along the streets provided views of beautiful houses, churches and shops. Here is some of what we saw.
On the second Sunday of the month they close down King Street and allow visitors to meander down the middle of the street taking in the stores, eateries and shops. This is where you will find your more main stream stores with a few novelty stores tucked in.
After a long day of walking around in the heat, we headed back to the park where we parked and cooled off a bit. The kids were drenched, Tracey and I just waded in a bit.
Emily is in the middle of the fountain and Kellen is running around in front with the Packer shirt on.
If you are every close to the area or looking for a place to visit, I highly recommend Charleston, SC.
Next Up...
- Not sure, we have to find a place to sleep tomorrow night!
