Covering Some Ground
It is the end of day 2 on the road and we are staying at the Historic Plains Hotel in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The first few days of the trip is all about covering miles. Here is a quick recap of the first two days.
Today provided a lot of opportunities for some awesome scenery. We traveled south through Utah and began heading East just south of Ogden. I always enjoy driving through Utah, something very comforting about it and love the views. Most of the day was spent driving through southern Wyoming. We stopped at Little America for lunch and $0.75 ice cream cones before pushing on the rest of the way to Cheyenne.
We left home on June 30th around 12:30 pm. No trip can get underway before the family selfie. The goal is to take one at the end of 30 days and all have the same smiles on our faces. Every thing was packed up and in the right place. Packed up so good in fact that we forgot to eat lunch before leaving the house so before we even left town there was a quick stop at the McDonald's drive-thru.
After traveling about 6 hours we arrived at the Twin Falls/Jerome, ID KOA around 8:30. After setting up camp for the night there was just enough time for the kids to hit the pool. The pool was open until 10:00 which was nice as the kids were able to burn off some energy before jumping into bed. Interesting fact with this camp ground, there was a cattle trail about 30 yards behind our tent. They minded their own business for the most part. Not quite the wildlife one would hope to see but won't complain.
So there you have it, short and sweet. Tomorrow (7/2) is another day of covering some ground. We will have about an 11 hour day in front of us. Our next stop is Oklahoma City where we will spend one night before heading to Little Rock, Arkansas to meet up with one of our AmeriCorps friends and his family.
As we travel, if you have any questions for us or want to hear from the kids, please feel free to leave questions in the comment section. I will ask the kids your questions and video their responses for you!
Thanks for joining us on our adventure!
