Nashville to Grayton Beach State Park
July 6th (7:50
a.m.)
I write this post just shy of 8:00 am on Thursday morning. Last
night we arrived at Grayton Beach State Park a little before 9:00 pm. It was
nice and dark as we pulled into our campsite but working together we were able
to get the tent set up and everything unpacked that we needed. It was still in
the upper 80’s/lower 90’s when we settled in to sleep and maybe got down to low
80’s/upper 70’s over night. Definitely one of those nights that you don’t move
much while sleeping.
Before we left the KOA yesterday it started to pour, we are
talking sheets of rain! Tracey, Emily and I were with the car at the laundry
room waiting for a few things to dry. When the rain came, I began driving
around looking for Kellen as he was off making friends. When I found him he was
soaking wet and proceeded to notify me that the roof top box on our vehicle was
open. Sure enough, I forgot to close it when the rain started falling. I am
happy to report that by the time we reached our next camp site, some things
were only slightly damp.
Nashville, Tennessee
A good portion of the day on the 5th was spent in
Nashville. Nashville is one of those cities that I think we will try to make it
back to and schedule a few days in order to really take in the city. I believe
the street name is Broadway, it is filled with places to eat, listen to music
and purchase just about any souvenir you can possible want or need. Add to that
museums for various country singers along with other iconic buildings,
Nashville has a lot to offer in the ways of entertainment and “touristy things”.
One of the other cool features of the city are the murals.
They are scattered throughout the city and each one is beautiful in its own
right. We also decided it was a good day to have ice cream for lunch. Based on
a recommendation, we located and had ice cream at Jeni’s Ice Cream shop. Well
work the trip to find it. Lots of different flavors to try out and enjoy!
Beach Time!
Today we will be spending time at the beach. Although today requires packing up the tent and moving to another site down the road aways, we have the process down pretty quick. Today also means about a total of 7 minutes of travel time! This will be a nice break from the hours in the car we have been putting in. A time to relax and decompress a bit. Pictures to come!
